Dependence on one's own ability to sort out things and handle difficult situations may end up in total failure. The Israelites were deceived by the Gibeonites who pretended as if they had come from a distant country. The mistake of the Israelites was their failure to seek the guidance of God.

When our sole aim is to please God in all that we do, we will wait for His guidance and therefore will not be trapped by deceptions. The sincerity of those who trust in Him will be honoured by God and He will never let down those who seek His guidance.
